Visit to Beamish Museum
The whole school had a fantastic day exploring Beamish Museum.
To support their topic on Florence Nightingale, Class 1 took part in a workshop 'Meet the Nightingale Nurse'.
They trained how to be nurses to treat the soldiers. Their tasks included making nourishing food (ginger biscuits), keeping rooms clean and learning bandaging skills from a local doctor.
Class 2 listened to the tale of 'The Lambton Worm'. As part of their literacy work the children will be writing non-chronological reports based on the story.
Of course, we had to include a visit to the traditional sweet shop and we bought a bag of sweets each to bring home!
